on the longitudinally axle of timber piece. |
Edge
knot - Knot located and visible on the edge of the timber piece. |
| Arris
knot - Knot located and visible on the timber piece arris. |
Traversing
spaly knot - Knot passing from a face to the other face and from an
edge to the other edge. |

| Scattered
knot - Knots located, one by another, at a distance bigger than timber
piece width or at a distance of minimum 150 mm at timber pieces with width
over 150 mm. |
Group (cluster)
knot - Knot located on a surface with the length not surpassing the
width of timber piece - for timber pieces with width under 150 mm - or
150 mm in the case of timber pieces with over 150 mm width. |
Branched
knots - Two knots on timber piece' s face, oval or splay, located
simetrically at the longitudinally axle of timber piece. |

| Intergrown
knot - Knot with adherence to the surrounding knot on minimum 3/4 of
its perimeter. |
Partially
intergrown - Knot with adherence to the surrounding knot between 1/4

- Knot with adherence to the surrounding knot on maximum 1/4 of its perimeter. |

| Sound
knot - Knot without rottenes and alteration traces. |
Light knot
- Healthy knot whose color is similar with the color of the surrounding
wood. |
| Dark knot
- Healthy knot whose color is darker than the color of the surrounding
wood. |
Unsound
knot - Knot rotten on maximum 1/3 of its surface. |
| Rotten
knot - Knot rotten on more than 1/3 of its surface. |
